My dear people of Luceti --

An invasion, all under the guise of a fantasy. What’s been done will not be forgotten. Certainly not by you, and not by the denizens of a dozen other enclosures who suffered similar attacks at the same time. As we speak, programmers and engineers hard at work combing through the barrier’s nuts and bolts. If the Cultists and his Lordship exploited some natural weakness in the dome, they will find it. Patch it up. Curious, isn’t it, that the Count chose yours to invade with his own two feet?

But there are other matters to discuss. I spoke with some of you only a few months ago. Let me announce more completely what I, back then, only intimated. I’m Carol, and I intend to spend some time in our little town. If you like, you can consider my resolve to continue my work here a sign of good faith. I remain unarmed and -- I assure you -- wholly peaceable. In this way, I hope I may have faith in you as well. After all, we are kin in a strange kind of way.

It is my duty -- as well as my pleasure -- to be Luceti’s liaison with the Organization. You must have many questions, concerns, and many many curses. Bring them to me, and we’ll see what can be done. We can talk here. But if any of you find the journals distasteful, you can also come have a seat with me at the sweet little tea shop. I’ll be there for the afternoon.

I see. It happens that I feel inclined to take you as your word. [He adjusts his glasses. It makes sense - unless she was intended to act as bait of some sort, they wouldn't deploy her here unless it was safe. But that won't stop Jade from trying his own investigations of the area later, just to make sure. He rises from his table and adds with some slight sarcasm.] Perhaps I'll be able to sleep more soundly now. All the same, I thank you for sharing. It's been a pleasure.

[Albert shakes his head at that, frowning. He recalls what Leonhardt had said about the mission long after the fact, after their encounter with the General, but that was not the question asked.]

If anyone was spoken to about extra actions, it certainly wasn't me. [He continues with a wry tone.] Even if I was spoken to about such things, I hardly have the skill set necessary to take on such a man.

Aa. Touché. It's been a couple weeks now, though, since you came on here. Any nicer rumors circling around?

No, that's not what I mean and you know it. If he came here, and lived here and tricked them all into thinking he was some great important person, then what he was after must've been here in the first place. Were all the other ones just supposed to distract you guys?

After all, it could very well have been them in Vaskoth's place - despite the current Luceti's history of surviving these sorts of things.

[And he says this with a little bit of grit teeth. He was taken aback a moment and he's clearly lost some gusto, but... ]

[Carol, you just made his fucking day. She has no idea. Way to be one of the few that's managed to actually cheer him up.]

[He is not sure if he could believe this entirely.]

Won't they punish you for giving us such information? There has to be a catch. I am sure there is a catch. Perhaps I should not focus on what I wish to know but on the location of that elusive catch.

[Loki taps his fingers on the table.]

The scientific experiments that has been done to some of us... What is it that they try to accomplish? What theory should be proven?

We are all of us trying to get home. And as for punishment? Ah, well. I'm at liberty to share all I see fit to share. But perhaps the catch is that I'm hardly a high-ranking as many of you seem to think. I've been trusted with no grand secrets.

"The land itself will have to be reclaimed -- in terms both military and agricultural. Vaskoth suffered extensive damage. It may be some time before the Organization begins placing people there once more."

And yet, I wondered for a moment if your apparent unsuitability might have, in the end, made you the perfect candidate. Ah, well. It's not a mystery that's mine to solve.

"Placing people... you mean, starting it over as a new enclosure."

[Voice]

Hmm. I suppose that impossible is a poor term, indeed. Perhaps it is more fitting to say that it is not yet possible -- and not for want of trying. Every day, I wish and pray for our scientists to have one of those...what do they call them?

Eureka moments.

It reminded me of the Earth story, yes...? Pandora's box.

Alas, accepting a position inside an enclosure tends to cut one off from the rumour mill. Nowadays, my rumours are your rumours.

It was an odd mission overall, even if it wasn't apparent at the time; infiltrating a festival to gather information doesn't seem to quite align with the majority of missions that are handed down. Whatever the case, someone profited from the Count being deposed.

[Just a little conspiracy talk. Even if it wasn't much of a conspiracy as it was the truth.]

"From my understanding, it's something they had been planning to do eventually, since the enclosure had reached maturity, yes? Something like what may have happened to this enclosure in the past..."

The implications of the secret rooms beneath Luceti, of course, and the talks about Vaskoth on the previous draft.

She also remembers well the implications of a few years ago - most enclosures didn't survive through being invaded and remain wholly themselves. And with the way of the world, starting over from scratch could might as well be a Malnosso motto. What were individuals, when compared to the possibly hundreds of thousands brought and recycled by the world on even a daily basis, after all.

Though in part, it is a way to turn the conversation back to the history of the Luceti enclosure itself.

"Eventually. Vaskoth was still a couple of years off from its true point of maturity." And then, after a moment's pause. "I was so looking forward to that day. To stand with them, as their Liaison. Not that I regret being here, now, with Luceti. But being shuffled out of the Vaskoth enclosure was a bittersweet moment."

He had many enemies. Although, I wonder if it might be more accurate to say he rather had much competition, instead.

Not that she wasn't still a follower, there with the Malnosso, but at least she still seemed to have her own mind on the matter. Perhaps.

"Were you able to see Luceti mature before? I was under the impression that this particular project... wasn't like the other enclosures."
