Penalty Removal Requests

[This post is for contacting the NPC John. Think of it as an Appointments Post.

It has primarily been used in the past as a way to ICly request death penalty removals, so if you are here for that, make sure to use the Penalty Removal Request form first. Also, this is not required! While contact to John is a must for removing the death penalties, it doesn't have to be threaded out if you want to handwave it.

John is played by fontech and can be contacted on AIM at guynophobic or you can PM her journal. Please be patient regarding responses. If your tag isn't answered after a few days, feel free to contact her.]

[Well. She wouldn't have thought of this herself, but it was better than sitting around doing nothing. Katara was properly tentative as she carefully made this filter unhackable, but by the time she'd finished she'd managed to find her resolve.]

John? I know you're the person we need to talk to about the removable of death penalties. I've had friends who've gone to see you before. I need to talk to you about my brother Sokka.

[Sokka, Sokka... that name is familiar, didn't he have a file somewhere around- ah.]

The obnoxious one who calls himself Thunder-something, isn't it? Going on four months now since he died.

[Hearing it said so plainly hurt. It hurt in ways she hadn't expected, in aches and echoes and sharp piercing daggers.

The confirmation was helpful, since she still didn't want to believe it, but it still hurt enough for a moment's pause.]

[She gave him a small smile.]

Thunderaxe, yeah. I know, it's terrible. [She took a breath and refocused. If she was missing Sokka calling himself Thunderaxe, then there was something really wrong.] He lost his heart for his death penalty - at least, that's what he called it when we spoke about it. As far as I can see, it's his ability to care, and to know what's right and wrong.

[She took another breath, because she didn't think John would want her to waste his time.]

The problem is that he doesn't want it back. And he's hurting people. [Not so much physically, not inside the enclosure, anyway, not that she knew. But there were many ways of hurting people, and worst of all - he was hurting himself.] I know someone has to come to you and ask if their penalty can be removed, but I don't know if there's any way anyone can convince him to do that. I already tried and he went straight on a mission. Please. Will you help him anyway?

I've taken such indirect requests before. These penalties are an unnatural part of this world, much like the revivals themselves. You people seem to think there's a choice of whether or not it is resolved, but it's simply a matter of how far down the list you are. Quaint, isn't it?

[Shuffling through the file now... hrngh...]

Heart, soul, essence, spirit... it's been called many things across the universe. You would think it'd be a more common trait to be taken away, but it's surprisingly rare. Complicated to fix, but yes, it's possible.

[The penalties and the revivals were an unnatural part of the world? She'd thought that they were a distinct and natural part of it, as natural as the spirits themselves--

No. She had to focus on the important part, no matter how much she wanted to ask him to clarify.]

I'll need a few days for research. I can't do it any sooner than that.
