I was discussing this with Guy over the journals a while ago. But, well, we couldn't speculate too much because it wouldn't be safe.
The barrier works to keep us inside the village, but I think that at the same time it would also keep catastrophes like typhoons out. I mean, if we can't break through that thing, stuff on the other side wouldn't be able to either. Is that intentional, or is it just an added bonus?
Well, the way I see it, there's two kind of disasters. Natural disasters like earthquakes, tornadoes and certain diseases... And there's disasters caused by man. One person or race thinks they're more powerful than the other and starts a war.
Technically, the barrier could keep either out. But if it were really that dangerous out there, why even bother sticking with this world in the first place? I mean, if you have the technology to take people from other worlds, wouldn't you be able to go to their worlds and start a new life there?
Well, the way you see it is confined by the limitations of what you've experienced and what you think natural -and unnatural- boundaries are. So disregard that prejudice first and maybe we can get somewhere.
Hm... Well, I guess that's true. There's a lot of things I learned about here in Luceti that I never dreamed possible in my own world. But that still means the barrier is keeping something out, whether it's natural or not.
Which means that there's a bigger power out there. Something the Malnosso are protecting us from. They'd have to be getting something out of that, though. They wouldn't be watching over us for no reason. Besides, if they were good guys, you wouldn't be doublecrossing them to help us out.
There's no such thing as good guys and bad guys, Vyse. There are people that want one thing, and people that want another, and the conflicts that come out of that.
Not even you, Jacob? This entire world is against us and you're the only person extending a hand. Well, you and John, but you've already made it clear he's only in it for the fun. He hasn't denied that either.
If you don't have good intentions for us, it'd mean you're just helping us because you want something too.
I can settle for that, I guess. As long as you keep on lending us a hand, I won't complain about your motives. Really, I'm in no position to.
But if we can't defeat the Malnosso- Or, at least, it's better if we don't... What are we doing? You and John are helping us, but what are we trying to accomplish? Is it an escape attempt, or are we working to take out that other threat?
You won't even tell us what we're trying to accomplish? What you're doing is making us choose a side blindly. If there really are no "good guys" and "bad guys", how do we know working together with you is really the right thing to do?
You can decide not to believe me, pack up your Blue Rogue toys and go home. I don't care. But I'm not giving you more information because I can incriminate myself. So long as you figure things out on your own, I'm not in any danger.
You asked us to trust you. You said you know what you're doing. We really don't have much of a choice but to believe in that, because, like I already said, you're the only ones extending a hand. But there's still no guarantee you won't just use us to get what you want and then leaving us to our fates.
Unfortunately, it's not that simple. I can't just use you and leave you to your fates, because in order for me to get what I want, you have to get what you want first.
But not all of us want the same thing. Some of us want to go home, while others want to stay here and explore the world more. So really, the only thing the villagers would have in common...

It just doesn't make sense.

No, it doesn't make sense. Wonder why that is.

The barrier was put there by the Malnosso, right?
