[Voice]

[Over the journal chimes a tinny feminine voice, one that some residents might find familiar.]

Attention to all residents of Project Designation: Luceti. --Error. Error. Command code does not match. Requesting security scan. Error. Error. Error. Error. Error. Er-

[The voice cuts off abruptly, replaced by rather furious typing for a few minutes. Then:]

Attention to all residents of Project Designation: Luceti. A mistake has been made. Currently all Shifting equipment is compiling a list of residents, anchored worlds, and incorrect data in order to reverse the damage. Completion at 15%. Estimated time of completion: t-minus 20.5 hours. Estimated time before damage becomes irreversible: 49.35 hours. No errors currently detected. Corrective Shift will be applied immediately following completion. All errors must be reported within 24 hours of application to avoid permanent damage.

Please stand by.

[slight change of plans. ANI will not be particularly responsive (it is a holiday weekend, after all) but for the sake of simplicity, there you go.]

[That is a voice he has not heard in quite awhile, and he frowns as the voice cuts off to be replaced by text.

Irreversible. Whether he believes his own memories or what he has heard over the course of this week ... this is the first sign of reaction outside of their village.]

What is the likelihood of error following the corrective Shift?

[Well. There is obviously some code running here, and Don is immediately going to try to hack it. He wants to see this non-matching command you mention, as well as your compiler routine, database, data validation script, and error log.]

[He is also highly interested in the current value of your T variable. It had better be less than 69.85 hours from now. Or preferably less than 45.85, to allow for the 24-hour correction window.]

[Is your security good enough to notice this intrusion, ANI?]

[...Well, that's not a very comforting report. But this announcement about incorrect data and anchored worlds is making it clear that, somehow, Bil's experiment involving visiting worlds has occurred even with Bil's lab in disarray.]

What damage occurring to our worlds is known?

A mistake.

[ He knew there was something there, but having a confirmation is so much nice than mere suspicions. ]

Do we get to know the kind of mistake?

[Not advised indeed. There were so many things that could go wrong.]

Please give a projection of the worst case scenario in which errors are not reported.

[Finally, a familiar voice to help sort out the craziness.

Although something doesn't seem right there.

Albert seems to be asking the relevant questions, so she'll ask something else.]

Is there any available data on the source of the problem?

What kind of errors are we looking for?

To whom would we report these... errors? Here, or a new summons to the the Organization?

Does it have something to do with the people around... [ The word is unpleasant to use, but he might as well. ] ...the enclosure behaving differently?

Then as many affected individuals need to be accounted for before the corrective Shift. Will the list of residents and incorrect data, currently at 15 percent, be compiled by the time the corrective Shift is implemented? There must be a way to measure how many or which affected were not caught by the corrective Shift.

[ How dry. He must be getting too accustomed to this place if he expected more. ]

Is that the most you would tell us? Can I at least make my guesses and hope that you might answer "yes" or "no"?

Who do we report to if the shift doesn't correct the problem?

Reporting those who are affected, yes. Is there anything else we can do to assist?

[Frustrating. But he sees other people are having success with more human querying methods, so he'll try that.]

How can I patch in an outside machine to lend CPU time?
feelinghot: (Nope.)

[Speaking was so clunky when the other side was typing; she'd much rather type herself. Still, it was faster than writing and several questions have already been answered.]

What is the percentage of success of the manual override then?
