This morning, a message is broadcast over the journal system, a cheerfully written message:

"Attention, all residents: there will be a meeting held at the town hall today at 4PM. All newcomers of the enclosure are invited and encouraged to attend the meeting ONE HOUR prior for a special guide to life in our town! We hope to see you all there and will be very happy to answer any questions you might have. Please note that this meeting will start on time, so arrive early in order to not miss anything!"

And in a precise and sternly elegant hand below:

"As the saying goes: if you're early you're on time, if you're on time you're late, and if you're late you're in trouble. Don’t get in trouble."

Those who attend the early introductory meeting will find it to be... not exactly as advertised. The doors will be open early. Inside, the hall has a similar layout to that of the modern day school - same building, after all - but with offices and supply rooms rather than classrooms. Romaeus is there, looking more or less the same as his modern-era counterpart, and he is hanging out near the stairs with a blonde-haired woman with large wings that some long-term Lucetians might find familiar.

When the hour chimes, Romaeus locks the entrance doors, leaving the woman to keep watch, and guides the arrivals down into the basement. They are led to a side of the wall near the back that opens up at Romaeus's touch to reveal the underground tunnels. These, too, are different: bright, clean, and freshly maintained, rather than the dusty and rusted out hallways people would know them to be. It's an active lab now, with a number of closed-off rooms, heavy doors to each side for laboratories and the pursuit of science. He ignores them all, leading them further down into the deeper parts of the tunnels, to a large room that seems, for the most part, unused. Once everyone is inside and quiet, he begins.

[A filtered broadcast appears on Luceti's journals on the evening of the 29th.]

Ah. Luceti. It sure has been a while. My, how things change...

[And, oh, how they stay the same. The woman’s voice falls silent for the soft click and gasp of a lighter.]

I hear that not all of you have been playing nicely with my charges; then again, I doubt they made a point to play too nicely, either. [Laughter.] I would bet my last credit that Korras didn't.

Speaking of Blake, could a helpful soul put him on the line? Since the Malnosso shut down their books, it's been...or...blast it, you'll have to do. All of you. Listen -- two days from now, your guests are cleared to return to Kin'cora. Be dears and tell my children they're to line up at your pretty little teleporters. The Organization didn’t see fit to share their schedule but I certainly do see fit to pass it on. Unlike them, I find less entertainment in watching the machines round them up. This way, perhaps only the stragglers will be subjected to that.

[Over the journal chimes a tinny feminine voice, one that some residents might find familiar.]

Attention to all residents of Project Designation: Luceti. --Error. Error. Command code does not match. Requesting security scan. Error. Error. Error. Error. Error. Er-

[The voice cuts off abruptly, replaced by rather furious typing for a few minutes. Then:]

Attention to all residents of Project Designation: Luceti. A mistake has been made. Currently all Shifting equipment is compiling a list of residents, anchored worlds, and incorrect data in order to reverse the damage. Completion at 15%. Estimated time of completion: t-minus 20.5 hours. Estimated time before damage becomes irreversible: 49.35 hours. No errors currently detected. Corrective Shift will be applied immediately following completion. All errors must be reported within 24 hours of application to avoid permanent damage.

Please stand by.

[slight change of plans. ANI will not be particularly responsive (it is a holiday weekend, after all) but for the sake of simplicity, there you go.]
malnosso: (The Observer)
Attention, residents of Luceti.

I and my creator are aware of the current crisis situation, and as of yet we are unable to either fully assess the damage or provide assistance. This is not an experiment.

At this time, I must request assistance.

The one designated "John" is currently trapped beneath the village. Wreckage from the earthquake is cutting off both escape and air supply.

Immediate rescue is required.
malnosso: (The Observer)
Summoners. Make your way to the northernmost point of the barrier; shouldn't take you more than half a day. When you get there, I'll bring you past it. We'll be practicing outside.

Two things. One: you run or attack me, I send you back from whence you came. I don't want to deal with that.

Two: you listen to what I say and you assume I'm not lying. I've got no reason to teach anybody that doesn't want to be taught, and I'm risking a lot just by meeting you. Give me trouble, I'll send you back inside. We all have more important things to do.

[[ooc: Here is the log for the summoning lesson! For the sake of being efficient, we'll treat each encounter as an individual meeting, unless you'd rather go in pairs or more for a specific purpose.]]
malnosso: (The Observer)
I want to talk to those of you who summon. With tomes, staves, contracts, whatever. If you've ever drawn a being in from another dimension and you have a desire to do it here, we need to chat.

I have a proposition for you.
malnosso: (The Observer)
[It's a low but obviously feminine voice, familiar to some perhaps.]

Before you new kids ask, no I'm not one of the people that captured you, no I can't let you go, yes I'll answer any questions I can if I feel it's safe to divulge that information. Please keep the death threats to a minimum since you'll just be wasting your breath, it's unlikely I'll be missed.

...there.

Hey kiddos. I got a job offer for you.

Remember those intruders some of you stuck it to a few months back? Well, I'm sure this comes as no surprise but the general public is having a bit of trouble with them as well, and have been for...hm. Quite some time.

Seems like your captors may have wised up, but I think they need a little reassurance. They can be such finicky things after all, and even with all the talk going about among employees about how darn good you all are, they're still wary about letting you out of your cage. Really, once bitten and twice shy, but only if you're an animal. Silly things.

But enough about the Organization.

Kids! How would you like to work out a little aggression? Bet I could get some of you some first-class accommodations in exchange for just a little bit of battle and danger. Though I suppose some of you would like that, wouldn't you?

[[ooc: PLEASE NOTE that the first thread with John is a preceding backstory to this post. Not necessary if you don't feel like it, but just some plot for you to chew on if you like.]]
malnosso: (The Observer)
[A low voice, obviously feminine, but pretty far down in register. It sounds very cool, calm and collected.]

Talk to me, kids. You all right?
malnosso: (The Observer)
You are all terribly distrustful. That's good.

So that you're working with an informed opinion however, this was the work of neither myself nor the Organization.
malnosso: (The Observer)
Greetings. My name is ANI; the Automated Neutral Intelligence system created for the purpose of observation and cataloging said observations. I and my creator share no affiliations with the "Malnosso" Organization, nor do we align ourselves with designations "John" or "Jacob."

To clarify. Subjects safe for discussion on the open journal systems:

-John (save his recent Shifting advancements; see below)
-Discussions concerning Shifting.
-The Third Party.

Subjects to be avoided (kept to the laptops or in person):

-My creator and myself.
-John's revival of Jacob.
-Jacob.

Thank you. Please, should you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask. However, classified information will not be released without the permission of my creator.

[A voice begins, a woman's; it's rather low in register.] You heard -read- the lady. Also, I want to talk to you kids about the Hunter and what exactly happened, if you don't mind.

I come bearing gifts.

[There's a click and then a recorded conversation: one voice is obviously Jacob's. The other is an unknown man's, surprisingly smooth and low but very, very sharp and cold. The voices are far away, but audible.]

To make any advancements in science you have to take risks.

It wasn't your fucking life at risk!

That's why it was worth it.

...Goddammit. I don't remember anything. Nothing! You've any idea what that's like, do you?!

Would you rather me have chosen one of the others? ...No? Then you should be grateful.

Fuck. [Heavy footfalls, and a door slam. Another click as the conversation ends.]

John, they're releasing the Hunter into the enclosure. It has Shifting mods, I don't think the barrier you set around the park will hold it off.

[A smooth, low voice, though clearly female. There's a rhythmic tapping sound in the background, and a chorus of the deep hums of many pieces of powered equipment.]

Congratulations, all of you. You've done very well, better than anyone had anticipated.

For those who've yet to meet me, I'm ANI's creator. Call me whatever you like; it doesn't matter to me. But I have a question, if you all don't mind; what are your thoughts? I know some of you managed to speak with General. Find out anything interesting?

[Private to Nina//Unhackable]

Sorry, I don't trust your network. What can I do for you, Miss Parker?
malnosso: (The Observer)
There has been a breach. Take caution.

They already know.
