Attention, Region Six. A draft is scheduled to commence on August 25th for five days following. Your location will be the West Central Ocean, en route to Kano Harbour via three ships. Choose a suitable captain for each, and the pilots will be programmed to follow your orders. Don't waste my time with incompetence, either. Put in charge only those who deserve it.

These are the residents who have been selected to participate.

[As usual, the list posted HERE is offered in text form, sans the mun names.]

Your mission is to protect the cargo ship above all else. Within three days you will reach your destination. Opposition numbers, rank, and skill are impossible to predict, however, their equipment often prevents them from attacking at night. Remain on guard, but take advantage of the respite you may receive by night. Upon reaching the harbour, the cargo will be unloaded. You are to continue protecting it until it is safely out of range of their attacks. I would advise against swimming unless you want to die.

For those of you who were involved in the last draft, I have only one thing to say: your performance was acceptable.

Over and out.

[Once again, the commandant will not reply to anything but draft-related questions or particularly inspiring comments, so if you're looking for a response, be sure to give her something worth answering!]

[Let's get down to business, shall we? You know who he is, what he can do, and what his skills are.

He's pissed. OH HE'S PISSED. But... that can wait.]

Commandant, would you mind answering a brief series of questions? [He'll draft them into his next reply.] In order to meet your objective, and ensure our survival [As if you really care much.], a little more information is needed to suitably organize a response and devise answering tactics.

[To everyone else]

And as for command related experience, I am Captain Trafalgar Law. I am a submarine captain from my world, and have seen many naval engagements. I know my way around a wide variety of craft. Given that we don't yet know what sort of vessels we will be dealing with, I realize I might not be the foremost choice for command. So I suggest only this, we try to settle the issue of command with the least bit of grandstanding and fighting as possible.

We simply do not have the time for it.

[Noting some of the answers to other questions coming in - sail and engine, navigational charts provided, good.]

Alright...

You mentioned these ships would be piloted by droids. And I am to understand from what you said that they would only respond to the Captain’s orders. So what happens if a Captain is killed in battle or otherwise incapacitated?

[Well, that's a reasonable attitude. They do only have two days to figure out who's going to lead them, and fighting over who it should be wouldn't get them anywhere. Still, Nill doesn't know anyone on the voting list, so she figures it's probably best to ask them a question or two before voting.]

What was the worst situation you had to take care of back in your world? As a captain?

[Does he really want to mention Marineford? Not really...

... it would also be taking credit undeserved. More players in that, and he had only pulled Strawhat out of that one. Never mind it had been a technical four way war he had charged into to retrieve him. No, he does not want to speak of that bloodbath.

He has better examples. Thank you, Drake you magnificent bastard.]

Worst situation? For me that would be outmaneuvering a minefield and outfight three Marine battleships, in treacherous conditions, with a damaged submarine and limited weapons.

[It was fun. Except not.]

So... to deal with it, I ended up luring them into their own minefield and let their own weapons disable them.

[Clever! Nill thinks she probably wouldn't have thought of that. Though Nill isn't a captain, so perhaps that's okay.]

That sounds like a good way to turn a bad situation around. Have you solved a lot of problems like that? Without attacking head-on?

It's preferable when possible. Especially when things are stacked against you. Any fight where you can come out of in better shape than your enemy is ideal. Though sometimes the only way out is to take your foes head on.

As I read it, the situation here is entirely defensive. We'll be protecting the cargo ship, not chasing after the Third Party. So unless things drastically change out there, we shouldn't have to attack them head on unless absolutely necessary.
