Attention, Region Six. A draft is scheduled to commence on August 25th for five days following. Your location will be the West Central Ocean, en route to Kano Harbour via three ships. Choose a suitable captain for each, and the pilots will be programmed to follow your orders. Don't waste my time with incompetence, either. Put in charge only those who deserve it.
These are the residents who have been selected to participate.
[As usual, the list posted HERE is offered in text form, sans the mun names.]
Your mission is to protect the cargo ship above all else. Within three days you will reach your destination. Opposition numbers, rank, and skill are impossible to predict, however, their equipment often prevents them from attacking at night. Remain on guard, but take advantage of the respite you may receive by night. Upon reaching the harbour, the cargo will be unloaded. You are to continue protecting it until it is safely out of range of their attacks. I would advise against swimming unless you want to die.
For those of you who were involved in the last draft, I have only one thing to say: your performance was acceptable.
Over and out.
[Once again, the commandant will not reply to anything but draft-related questions or particularly inspiring comments, so if you're looking for a response, be sure to give her something worth answering!]

She sees that Sokka's already commented so...]
I'm Katara - I think we've spoken a couple of times? Like Sokka said, we both know our way around most types of vessels, and we're used to fighting on the sea. [...] And I'm a waterbender. That means that while I've learned to use different types weapons, my main style of fighting is my control over water.
[Which leads to some interesting things in sea battles.
And she thinks it's a good idea not to spread the seafaring folk too thin, but she's still planning on sticking with the home team for this one unless she is persuaded by dire necessity otherwise.]

It would be easier to show you.
[She switches on the video which will reveal a slim, pretty girl of sixteen with a serious expression on her face, setting up the journal to stand on its own. She sets up her filter, because she doesn't believe in recording the extent of her abilities where just anyone could see and replay them, and then takes a few steps back and then streams some water out of her waterskin. It flows into a perfect circle hovering over her hand and then changes into ice, mist, and back again.]
Like this. Only bigger.

The captains may have to draw lots to see who gets you. Though I suppose you would prefer to stay with your brother?

But I can promise that we'll at least listen when it comes to dividing up who goes where. [Especially depending on who everyone determines to give command to. And she can make that promise because Archie seems okay, and so she'll listen, and she'll make the others listen as well.]
You should know the bending is like any other martial art - I can't keep it up forever, and I do have my limits. [...and then a little confident smile.] But I am a master.

I cannot guarantee everyone will have their choice of captain. But I will keep you and your brother together. Tell me which captain you would choose, once you decide, and I will do my best.
[voice | private ]
Once the captains are decided, we'll talk about it. And then I'll let you know.

Thank you.

[It's just usually what I end up doing anyway.
It's good to have a healer on the front lines sometimes. And between bending, Nala, and what she's learned from various doctors, Katara's extremely good at field medicine. Her tone sobers a bit.]
But it usually comes in handy anyway.
