Attention Luceti Residents.

The following names are being called to participate in a strike against the cultist hordes:
[the names listed here appear on the journal.]

All subjects are required to arrive at the tunnels at 8AM on the 27th of March for deployment. All listed individuals are required to be present. Subjects will then be escorted to TERRACE for battle preparation and further details.

Target will be Region One, a former Malnosso stronghold, presently in cultist hands. Subjects are advised to prepare for combat in forested areas. Further information will be made available at TERRACE. Questions and answers will not be provided at this time.

[The Malnosso will not reply to this message, but everyone is free to use this post to discuss among themselves, whether using voice options on the journal or doing action threads.]

That would seem to be the case. I have been here for five years now. [He's unfortunately reminded of his talk with the General and how he had seemed to look upon him with pity. The memory is quickly quashed.]

Thank you, Rapunzel-san. As long as you return well and healthy... I will be proud of you. I - I care for you very deeply, after all. [He doesn't know why he didn't just save that sentiment for tomorrow. This shouldn't the last time he'll be able to see her before she goes, after all.]

Have you made any contacts from the other enclosures?

[Aang stands up to face her - determined. Ready to clarify his words.]

Korra! Listen to me. They can only make you go out there. But they can't make you fight. Anything you do while you're out there... it'll be your own choice. You can focus on protecting people - innocent people. And looking out for - for Katara and Sokka and Bolin. [And he remembers Katara's words to him.] You don't have to play their game.

[He takes his shoes off when she calls, and heads into the shrine towards her, settling on the floor nearby.]

Hey. How are you? Your name was on the list too.

Um... I'm trained to use a knife. As in, the knife, she has me trained. Not sure if it'll carry over to any other knife.

I have other stuff I can use it for anyway.

I will be fine. I've been on drafts before, and I'm no stranger to fighting.

Will you be alright?

[Her smile, faint though it is, is genuine]

Hah. [Yes, that is actually said in amusement, for once.] Said army does not have enough people in it, which is why we are being drafted. I suppose we will have to wait and see just how large TERRACE actually is.

Stick with it. Better for all of us if we have more healers.

[She could try but honestly, she could easily get dragged into being a field nurse or something and then she'd have to take that on.]

If you...need help. [Ugh, this was dumb.]

[He'd just end the voice log now because this was embarrassing as hell but, he wanted to know she'd be okay. Even if he didn't help. She was nice to him.]

[Another draft. Once again, with his name on the list.

And of course, the one thing he hoped would never happen. This time, Cecilia and Jane were on the list as well. Along with a handful of other familiar names of those he considered friends.]

Only two days for us to prepare, huh...

[After that, he shuts the journal and steps outside. He doesn't want to think right now. The more he thinks about what might happen, the more it worsens anxious feeling building up inside him. His last experience with a draft was not pleasant, nor did it end well for him. The only thing he hopes is that this one will not be like the last one. Especially for both of his friends.

There's that painful, burning sensation again. Clutching his right arm, he winces... at this rate, the curse in his arm wasn't getting any better.]

"Lucky?" How does this make me lucky?

[While Eley might not have been summoned himself, he recognised many names of those he would now consider friends. To think that they would be going to battle... hurt him. As a Spirit who strived for peace, it hurt him that there had to be a battle in the first place, but knowing that some of these people may not come back was something he hated to think about...

So Rudy might not be the only one looking for some fresh air to clear his head, even if he might not be directly involved. By chance, he sees the familiar face not too far away and upon seeing him clutching his arm like that, he can't help but come closer.]

Rudy... are you hurt?

[ buffy isn't quite so unperturbed by the sight. or, at least, she does drag her rag of a dishcloth off her shoulder and crouch a few feet from the girl being given the introduction. ]

Hey, Clem. Jack, here -- [ she concedes his first name on account of there being a child in the mix and differentiating between jacks by surnames, as she often did, would help no one ] -- has been telling me all about how you can apparently actually stand his company.

[ she makes a little, casual gesture to bring the girl forward. inviting her within arms' reach so she can scrub off some of that dirt. buffy won't be offended if clem doesn't come. it is a lot to ask as a stranger. she knows that. ]

Tell me, now. That can't really be true, can it? [ the question is conspiratorial. good-natured. she expects the girl does in truth like horner. and why not? he was fun enough. humourous enough. cool enough. all appealing traits. and a child wouldn't see the sleaze so readily. buffy could understand the attraction. ]

...At least one of us is sane. [ she picks at the corner of the page. she knows she should tell him about the sand. explain that she has it. that she's ostensibly ready whenever he is and perhaps it should be done before the draft, but she chickens out. ]

How much of a difference do you think your extra year and some change makes, Albert? Like -- is it a lot? Obviously, you have more intel. But you'd have that anyway. I'm not much with the...[ info-hoarding. ]

I guess I'm asking if there's that much of a leap from four years to five. [ because it'll be a full four for her, soon. ]

Going on a draft? Nope. This would be the first. [Cross is quick to try like it's not a big deal for him. He couldn't get scared right. Especially with a new person. He tries to make his voice sound light about it all. Maybe even a little passive. ]

Well, you could be stranded in this dull little village with nothing to do at all. Boredom is the great killer of a delicate soul.

I rarely suffer from boredom. My duties keep me quite busy; I rarely have time for leisure.

Pleased that his demonic side can indulge in battle again, something the battle dome cannot accurately recreate. Displeased by both feeling that way and that he's going to follow orders.

It's easier to deal with when he can choose what to do out there, and to protect people.]

He starts reading up on information, reminding himself on how to deal with conditions in forests (or jungles) and other important things to know. After that...well, it's time to get himself stuff from the stores at the plaza.]

[Oh. Oh there are introductions. And she's kind of gross and dirty.

She's quick to move slightly behind Jack's pant leg. It's not enough to hide by any means, but it's enough to create a physical barrier of Jack-ness that should be protective enough if this conversation doesn't immediately go well.]

[She'll stay there throughout Buffy's attempts to interact with her. Buffy looks nice and all, but plenty of nice-looking people have terrible agendas. It's better to wait and be sure first.

The joke about Jack's trustworthiness gets a smile out of her, at least.]

...The Major slipped into the smithy with little fanfare but the sound of his boot-heels on the floor. He'd read about Sokka's change in policy and it was something he worried about, for he was not a man rich in much. But he had a few things. Trinkets, most with sentimental value. And he had the buttons on his uniform, if it came to it. He'd paid for many a thing with similar silver buttons after the company had been stranded in the retreat from Corunna.

He stood at the counter, calling out: "Sokka, lad? You in?"

[ Somehow she's been spared from this stuff for a long time and she's glad for that, but.. on the other hand, it's always worrying to have to see friends go and worrying for them while they're gone. But.. ]

H.. hmm, I will. Don't worry about it..

[Given the information about Shifters, Chouji wants extra weapons for this fight. This time when he stops by the smithy, he's looking for more than just his own armor and weapons from home.]

Hello? I was hoping to take you up on your offer of weapons for the draft.

[Which he's glad for. Madoka shouldn't be subjected to the battlefields of war. It's nothing like whenever the village get a random, rampaging assailant.

War means deaths, being emotionally drained and sometimes making tough decisions. On a big scale, sometimes.]
