Greetings, Luceti. I see you've managed to open the proverbial Pandora's Box. I was wondering when that would happen.

More seriously, however- no doubt most of you have noticed the widespread issue that's resulted from that decision. Some might even recall a similar experience occurring years ago. If you're concerned about the affected residents meeting their unfortunate ends once again, well, that's unlikely. Death wouldn't be a particularly beneficial alternative to what you've unleashed this time.

However, there's still the matter of sorting out the spirits now. I'm interested in hearing what you lot have already tried when it comes to dealing with what you've unlocked, but my advice for getting the black spirit to relinquish control is to let the rest do the work for you. Last time this happened, I was able to fix it, but it's beyond my power now.

Discuss it amongst yourselves, trade your theories; I'm sure you'll come up with something. I'll help with what I can. Sooner would be better, though- I make no promises that my former comrades won't take measures to deal with you if this isn't resolved internally within a few weeks.

This is Colonel Jade Curtiss. I have a few questions for anyone willing to answer.

Has there ever been any evidence of these spirits' existence outside this enclosure, or are they exclusive to Luceti?

Has anyone, using any type of scanning device, been able to detect the spirits' presence in a person's body? I've only made a few preliminary fonic tests myself, with no clear results so far.

Additionally, would anyone be willing to pluck a feather to be used as research material? [He smirks.] It's for a good cause.

I'm not sure about the first part, but...I'm willing to pluck a feather if you think it'll help.

And I would be willing to let you scan me if you think that would help. [ She's 100% sure she's got a spirit on board. ]

Having just one volunteer can make finding clear results quite irksome. [He says with a sigh.] But it can't be helped. I'll take you in for both.

...Sorry, I tried to get a few readings myself on my Quad Scanner. Everything that's native 'round throws the numbers outta whack. It's completely off the charts, and I can't even get a set of baseline stats to compare with anything.

So far, that's one marked down as "utterly useless". Any other takers?

You're not gonna get any other takers. Tech from our worlds just doesn't sync up with this world, and you're gonna find that across the board.

You'd actually have better luck talking to any psychic or medium types you can find. There's gotta be a few around here.

It's a piece of equipment that let's me get info on anything in the area. It's pretty handy...when there's none of these Shifts around.

They don't seem to be in the other enclosures -- at least not in Kin'Corras.

There... was an incident in which we had to share space. Some were frightened when they began to hear the spirits.

Is that so? [His curiosity is intrigued.] The spirits still tried to make contact with them?

You have to be still and be near their element to be able to listen to them. I never knew what happened after that -- whenever if the contact with the spirits remained with them outside of the enclosures.

Creating a bond with them takes time, and they only got less than a week to do so.

[As a fellow scientist, and someone who has already done this:]

... As for s-scanning devices... I have attempted to u-utilize a PET scan on m-myself, but no abnormal results were d-determined other than strange b-brain activity. Functional MRI yielded s-similar results... were I to have more a-accurate scanning technology, perhaps it could be d-detected, but... I am limited to what is here in L-Luceti...

That's true. I'd hoped there could perhaps be some other kind of scanning technology that could determine the nature of these beings... but this is sounding like a definite lost cause.

I have... a-already self-examined by removing feathers in the p-past, when I wished to... study their biological structure... [Something not exactly helpful, sadly.] I am not adverse to... r-repeating such a feat.

[As for the rest...] It is h-highly unfortunate that technology is... so restricted, and if even m-magical methods cannot suffice... this will be very difficult to i-investigate...
