[Locked to Residents]

Greetings, Luceti. I see you've managed to open the proverbial Pandora's Box. I was wondering when that would happen.

More seriously, however- no doubt most of you have noticed the widespread issue that's resulted from that decision. Some might even recall a similar experience occurring years ago. If you're concerned about the affected residents meeting their unfortunate ends once again, well, that's unlikely. Death wouldn't be a particularly beneficial alternative to what you've unleashed this time.

However, there's still the matter of sorting out the spirits now. I'm interested in hearing what you lot have already tried when it comes to dealing with what you've unlocked, but my advice for getting the black spirit to relinquish control is to let the rest do the work for you. Last time this happened, I was able to fix it, but it's beyond my power now.

Discuss it amongst yourselves, trade your theories; I'm sure you'll come up with something. I'll help with what I can. Sooner would be better, though- I make no promises that my former comrades won't take measures to deal with you if this isn't resolved internally within a few weeks.

[ooc: arright kids, true to John's word, he'll be overseeing the discussion. He won't be telling people how to fix this problem, but he'll answer whatever questions he can and give some advice here and there. see what you can work out amongst yourselves and feel free to ping me if I'm needed and don't show up. if nothing comes up within a week, we'll throw you a more obvious bone or two. tally ho~]

I am so very bored with the misapprehension that chaos equates with evil that I may expire from it.

Evil certainly wasn't in my interpretation. The world isn't black and white, although the tension between light and shadow is rather... present.

It looks like lots of them are kinda on the outs though!

I am glad to hear that. Many others have not been nearly so rigorous in their thinking.

Chaos, like light, dark, order, fire, etc. are all part of nature. They are neither by their existence good or evil. They simply are.

You want to help make the spirits happy again, too, though, right?

So I don't think you should worry about chaos or evil or whatever, because that's neither of those things!

I daresay at least one of the spirits is reasonably happy as is, no longer being trapped in a dank lockbox.
breezing: (- YOU'RE WEIRD.)

I don't want to lock her up again! But I think we should probably get all the spirits to calm down and get out of people on account of apparently it caused people to DIE last time and Mr. John said it wouldn't be good against what we did this time but you know thinking about what he said I wouldn't say it's actually COMFORTING so much as SORT OF OMINOUS.

If the spirits could find a way to make some sort of peace, or compromise amongst themselves ...

There are all manner of stories about agents of order binding up chaos, since chaos does like making a mess of things. I don't expect much cooperation from spirits that will suddenly be called upon to share their toys.

That isn't the attitude to take toward this either, Loki. We need compromise from all sides in order to make this work.
complicatedliar: (i find you wanting)

I merely point out that those who have imprisoned someone would no doubt rather be her gaolers again. One cannot trust people like that.

And I will point out that we do not know the circumstances of that time. In fact, we are rather in the dark about the spirit and what she has to offer, beyond the display of possessing the residents.

There may be a simpler solution to all of this, but letting judgement stand in the way isn't helping anyone's case - on both sides.

Having been someone's stolen relic before, I don't find myself particularly moved by questions of motivation.

She's quite good with shadows.

Then perhaps we should be discussing this with someone who is willing to come from a less obstructed point of view?

If you're planning to try to negotiate with the spirit at all, I simply suggest that trying to engender sympathy for her captors would be very, very silly.

We don't know the whole story, so it's not a matter of having sympathy. We need to get this sorted out on even ground - the new ground we're starting out with - and that goes for everyone involved.

If you wish to negotiate between parties, you must provide all parties with a reason to even want to negotiate rather than continue their private war, yes?

I said "may."

[Though when you have chaos and darkness and locked up and possessing people, it's hard for her to suspect otherwise. But she isn't going to argue the point since most of her reasoning is based on fictional stories.]

[...Yeah, Fenimore doesn't need Faeren's added tendency towards timidity to decide to back away from a conversation with someone who is so pro-chaos and uses the word mortal in such a way as to possibly not refer to himself. Sorry, Loki, she's abandoning this line of conversation.]
