[Locked to Residents]

Greetings, Luceti. I see you've managed to open the proverbial Pandora's Box. I was wondering when that would happen.

More seriously, however- no doubt most of you have noticed the widespread issue that's resulted from that decision. Some might even recall a similar experience occurring years ago. If you're concerned about the affected residents meeting their unfortunate ends once again, well, that's unlikely. Death wouldn't be a particularly beneficial alternative to what you've unleashed this time.

However, there's still the matter of sorting out the spirits now. I'm interested in hearing what you lot have already tried when it comes to dealing with what you've unlocked, but my advice for getting the black spirit to relinquish control is to let the rest do the work for you. Last time this happened, I was able to fix it, but it's beyond my power now.

Discuss it amongst yourselves, trade your theories; I'm sure you'll come up with something. I'll help with what I can. Sooner would be better, though- I make no promises that my former comrades won't take measures to deal with you if this isn't resolved internally within a few weeks.

[ooc: arright kids, true to John's word, he'll be overseeing the discussion. He won't be telling people how to fix this problem, but he'll answer whatever questions he can and give some advice here and there. see what you can work out amongst yourselves and feel free to ping me if I'm needed and don't show up. if nothing comes up within a week, we'll throw you a more obvious bone or two. tally ho~]

[Shikamaru really can't seem to find it in himself to even care, at this point. His life has gotten easier in the last few days, since he stopped worrying about things; he's gotten rather fond of the way things are now, actually. Still, that is the spirit possessing him now that they're talking about, which means whatever they decide on will affect him. Maybe even their survival.

He should probably give a damn. Good grief, how troublesome. 8|]

I'm not sure I get why the Malnosso even care. This can't be the only place something like this has happened in.

[Possession, that is. People know filial magic outside the enclosure - he's seen cultist's use it. So this can't be the only place the spirits can be, right?

...actually, that makes him wonder if the spirits can get past the barriers or if their Shifting can do any good against it like this. He should try it.]
breezing: (- YOU'RE WEIRD.)

[personal profile] breezing 2013-06-02 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
...What do you mean? It doesn't matter why they do or don't, 'cause if it ends with any of us dying, we have to care!
endgames: (...no)

[Oh please. Death happens all the time, he thinks bitterly (his father, his soldiers, his friends), and it's better to get used to it.]

Some things are worse than death. [He'd be more worried about the penalties, come to think of it.] If the Malnosso are going to get involved, I'd like to know what they'd do and why. Hell - maybe knowing the alternative will make everyone a little more eager.

Being bonded to the spirits would likely affect their experiments, if their goal is to send people home by them. It also brings us to another - somewhat evolved form on this one. We aren't purely ourselves anymore.

Besides, we're already aware - and they seem to be aware - that death isn't going to solve anything this time. The last time, they jumped to conclusions and organized ten deaths by shifts before the cure could be prepared and distributed. We've been told that it won't work like that this time. We have the opportunity, for once, to sort this all out ourselves.

I would think that you at least would appreciate that, Shikamaru.

This is not making cooperation with our captors sound any more attractive. I've never find their claims that their ridiculous experiments are to our ultimate benefit at all convincing.

So in effect those cooperating with this exorcism plan may be conspiring with them to remove a potential advantage that belongs only to us, and without solid information on the consequences either way.
wise_maiden: (but we give up easily)

Our issues with the Malnosso are neither here nor there at the moment. We didn't enter into this relationship with the spirits willingly - they are using us to quell their own problems, and we must turn to ourselves to solve it. Something we don't ordinarily have the opportunity to do.

We didn't enter into this relationship with the Malnosso willingly either, and are having this discussion at their direction and under threat of their unnamed consequences. And what do you think will happen if a solution is found they don't like?

Whence a desire for more specific information from that quarter being wise.

[Ikki's probably one of the few people on this post he can believe to genuine.]

Neither do I, kiddo.

[Or at the least, he doesn't want to this soon.]

[ She's unfailingly genuine about wanting everyone to talk it out and get along. Spirits and hosts alike! It's very, very air nomadic of her. ]

So, we should try all the stuff that isn't about dying or hurting one another! That way everyone can be okay and happy, right? Twila, too.
endgames: (Uh-huh)

Wow, DW switched up my icons on me

[personal profile] endgames 2013-06-05 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
That's the ideal.

[Try telling everyone else that though. He'll wait to see what they do first, but he thinks he'll just keep to himself for now.]

Why can't it? The situation here could be different than anywhere else.
wise_maiden: (there is something curious about this)

[voice]

[personal profile] wise_maiden 2013-06-03 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
The last time this happened, we were told that it was a worldwide issue that affected us when the barrier was cracked.

This current situation, however, seems to be contained to ourselves... hence the difference in how it's being handled.
generalflirt: (Where or Why?)

[personal profile] generalflirt 2013-06-04 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
That's what a I meant. I've never heard of "Twila" before this, so it's clearly a new variable.

I meant all of them. The cultists had to have learned this kind of Shifting from them too, so it serves to reason the Spirits exist outside of Luceti, besides Twila.

Or the Spirits are a manifestation that we have in this barrier of some other Shift. That's... possible, I think.

Could they have other spirits?

[ Excuse her butting in, and she's doing so a bit quietly, but she's sort of reading and listening to all of this with avid interest. She's not totally sure on some of it, but...

...she's trying to help, at least, and that means trying to understand the parts of Luceti that are still very new to her. ]

Different from the ones here, I mean.

[Geeez. THIS IS TROUBLESOME. B|

... and he's not going to say a word, because it's no good, and if Shikamaru is going to fight being made to give up the ghost, then he's already anticipated it and skipped town.

And if he's done that, then he knows people are going to come after him and planned accordingly. Which is... bad. Give a Nara time and opportunity, especially one so intimately familiar with their psychologies and abilities, and he could plot out the probabilities of who could come and what they would do to a frightening degree.

Hopefully he would come back after figuring the probability of eluding pursuit at length. If not, they would have to bring him in. A fact he knew.

They would have to flip the shogi board on him if so.

And that was only the start of it.

... if they found a way to depossess people, if the Malnosso didn't kill them first...]
