[Locked to Residents]

Greetings, Luceti. I see you've managed to open the proverbial Pandora's Box. I was wondering when that would happen.

More seriously, however- no doubt most of you have noticed the widespread issue that's resulted from that decision. Some might even recall a similar experience occurring years ago. If you're concerned about the affected residents meeting their unfortunate ends once again, well, that's unlikely. Death wouldn't be a particularly beneficial alternative to what you've unleashed this time.

However, there's still the matter of sorting out the spirits now. I'm interested in hearing what you lot have already tried when it comes to dealing with what you've unlocked, but my advice for getting the black spirit to relinquish control is to let the rest do the work for you. Last time this happened, I was able to fix it, but it's beyond my power now.

Discuss it amongst yourselves, trade your theories; I'm sure you'll come up with something. I'll help with what I can. Sooner would be better, though- I make no promises that my former comrades won't take measures to deal with you if this isn't resolved internally within a few weeks.

[ooc: arright kids, true to John's word, he'll be overseeing the discussion. He won't be telling people how to fix this problem, but he'll answer whatever questions he can and give some advice here and there. see what you can work out amongst yourselves and feel free to ping me if I'm needed and don't show up. if nothing comes up within a week, we'll throw you a more obvious bone or two. tally ho~]

Conflict... but that is part of nature, isn't it? You have fire and water, wind and earth, which are also opposing spirits, but ... they keep each other in balance. Even light and shadow. Order and chaos. We have to find a balance for this all to fit together.

[Have long moments of blank staring. Then, Law's face twists in an eerie fashion that suggests that he isn't the one responsible and that whoever's in the driver's seat is not terribly happy with what it's reading.

Like Law's finally stopped fighting for a moment and listening.]

Not that simple. This isn't that kind of conflict. Hyt is not a spirit of order. It is neutral in alignment. This is not because Twila is a chaotic spirit. Chaos is not evil. Darkness is not evil.

This is personal.

[He does not like labeling. He is a pirate and he knows from his world what results from that]

If you go about it that route, you will fail. Hyt is in pain, and is for a reason, and until you address the reason for that pain, it will not listen.

The pain that this conflict caused...

[Pain really isn't a good word to use around Nala, as the usually calm spirit experiences a surge of restlessness; she should be healing this and there's nothing she can do - And there's Billy's interesting tidbit. Sociopathic tendencies...]

... but we still don't have enough information as to why, and what we can do for it. We need to understand both sides. Perhaps ... not even just a conflict of light and darkness, but ... what would be personal for the spirits? Territory? Time?

...Or trust betrayed. Maybe on both sides.

Yes...

... I've also had another thought. Carol was the one who taught us about the Filial Spirits in the beginning, before she was taken from the enclosure. And you've said that you found the box in the tunnels ...

At least, it leads to some interesting speculation of why we might be dealing with all of this now, if nothing else. Something to keep in mind for when we do handle it.

Maybe. But yeah, that would be something to look at after we get this cleared. Right now, it's a distraction.

Indeed... and now that we've gathered a few more pieces on where the others stand, that still tasks us with solving all of this. We have to ask the right questions of those willing to speak... and push them to heal. Even if it's a painful process.

We'll just have to wait and see what can be done. I expect some of them won't have the motivation to listen until it's almost literally do or die.

That's not acceptable.

It never is, but unless you want to repeat the same thought process that probably put her in that box, and therefore only reinforce the need to escape and take everything they can for themselves, that's what you have. There could very well be temporary losses.

What we need is a compromise - a solution that would satisfy the spirits enough to at least deal with this on their own plane without involving us. Hyt is in too much pain to do that, and Twila has her own issues.

That leaves the rest of us. It's not about sides, or who is right or who isn't, at this point - once their fight becomes ours, we lose ourselves.

Trust me, you're preaching to the choir.

We just have to keep working with the ones willing to work past their possession and answer us. There's a few of each type here, but maybe we need to reach out a little more at this point.

Or else just get it into everyone's head that they need to check in on their own; I'm noticing most folks are responding to the people they trust the most or at least know the most about. This might end up having to be handled on a more personal and private level for each person. Go small rather than village wide.
