Attention Luceti Residents.

The following names are being called to participate in a strike against the cultist hordes:

All subjects are required to arrive at the tunnels at 8AM on the 27th of March for deployment. All listed individuals are required to be present. Subjects will then be escorted to TERRACE for battle preparation and further details.

Target will be Region One, a former Malnosso stronghold, presently in cultist hands. Subjects are advised to prepare for combat in forested areas. Further information will be made available at TERRACE. Questions and answers will not be provided at this time.

I seem to meet most people under somewhat dire circumstances. Well met, Mr. Layton.

[A brief pause, then a correction.] Professor Layton. I recall seeing a puzzle you posed to the village.

It was simple enough. I did enjoy seeing the variety of responses to your offering, though. [There's some complimentary tone to his voice, for a moment.

Then it dips back into seriousness.] You will be able to handle yourself in a battle scenario, Professor?

[He sobers.]

I'll manage; I have some skill as a fencer. [His gaze wanders.] My mind has always been my greatest weapon, but it has never made acquaintance with warfare. I suppose I'll need to do some homework before we're sent out.

Fortunately, we have the luxury of more time -- for this draft, at least. The last few have been much more abrupt in their announcements.

[He smiles a bit wearily.] A grace by any measure is deserving of gratitude, I suppose. My only concern is that they've provided us with more time, as you say, but little to no information. Would you say this is typical?

Under the Security Forces' control, yes. When the previous CEO was around, we were able to work with him on receiving details ahead of time. The Security Forces seem to handle everything before we arrive on the battlefield and simply dole out orders.

At least there are no illusions as to where we stand with them. We'll just have to prepare for any eventuality.

Such is the case. [It's always nice to meet people quick on the uptake.] Since we are being given time to prepare within the village, it would be best to assume they may not offer equipment on site. Rations perhaps, but anything that may be feasibly prepared while here should be done.

The shift transporters are located beneath the village, so you are of where to go. [A bit wryly:] If nothing else, follow the crowd.
