[Locked to Residents]

[Appearing on the journals is a written message as follows. A voice option is provided for a computerized reading of the text.]

Attention Luceti Residents.

The following names are being called to participate in a strike against the cultist hordes:
[the names listed here appear on the journal.]

All subjects are required to arrive at the tunnels at 8AM on the 27th of March for deployment. All listed individuals are required to be present. Subjects will then be escorted to TERRACE for battle preparation and further details.

Target will be Region One, a former Malnosso stronghold, presently in cultist hands. Subjects are advised to prepare for combat in forested areas. Further information will be made available at TERRACE. Questions and answers will not be provided at this time.

[The Malnosso will not reply to this message, but everyone is free to use this post to discuss among themselves, whether using voice options on the journal or doing action threads.]

[ Her heart sinks as he explains, and any hope she had of mediating the conflict as the Avatar goes straight out the window. Not that she was holding out hope for that. If it was even possible, Avatar Aang would have done it already. He could control all the elements. Korra wasn't there yet.

It was still hard for her to think about blindly fighting their supposed enemies, though. Maybe that would change when she saw them in person, but it didn't feel right. None of this did. ]

I want to focus on keeping people safe. People who can't fight for themselves. [ She could digest it more if if meant protecting people instead of blindly fighting. ]

[It's probably hard for her. Most new people, really. He recalls, clearly, how hard it is. But it's remarkably easy now. He's certainly concerned for his own well being, but a part of him is looking forward to it. Maybe killing cultists will be cathartic. It will fill that hole he's been feeling since he died.]

There's always going to be people needing help. The injured, the civilians. That sort of thing. Protecting our base of operation is just as important as pressing forward.

[ The tightens her grip on her arms. ]

Then that's what I'll do. [ She isn't going to kill anyone. She won't. ]

[He stands up.]

Stay here. I've got something for you. [He heads inside the house.]

[ She doesn't say anything in response, only nodding soberly as he stands. But she was curious - what could he have for her? ]

[He returns about a minute or so later with a helmet in hand, shaped like a wolf and iconic of Water Tribe warriors. He stands in front of her, holding it facing her. He has two of these. His original one and one made by Molly Hayes. This is the latter, though he's since reinforced it to be more solid in case he needed it as a backup.]

When Water Tribe warriors go into battle, we dress the part. Usually the women don't go fighting... and this isn't really traditional for benders either. But this might help you keep your head out there. Metaphorically and literally.

[ Even if the armor has changed in the last seventy years, Korra instantly recognizes it for what it is. She looks at Sokka, surprised. ]

You're letting me borrow this? [ She has to admit, that's kind of neat. Borrowing the helmet of the hero, Sokka. ]

Yeah. Just make sure it comes back in one piece. Oh. [He removes a large knife that was hanging from his belt, scabbard and all.] You should take this too. If you run into a Shifter, you'll need a way to protect yourself.

[ She swallows uncertainly, but takes the knife in hand all the same. ]

What do they do?

They disable your powers. It's like being chi-blocked, but they don't have to touch you to do it.

[ She remembers well how powerful she felt when taken down by a chi blocker. She couldn't do anything - and if it weren't for Naga, she would have been a goner.

It's not an experience she looked forward to repeating. ]

...Okay.

I'll be out there too. Those Shifters don't have much effect on me. So I'll keep an eye out for you.

[Because, you know, anything to impress the hot babe living in his house, right?]

[ She offers him a weak smile. ]

Thanks, Sokka. We'll watch each other's backs.

[He smiles in turn, even as he stands.]

Me and my sister have done this several times. You'll be fine. We'll be back here drinking sodas before you know it.

[ Somehow she doubted it would be that simple, but she nods all the same. ]

Right. I'll be over before I know it. [ It sounded hollow even as she said it. ]

[He tapped his foot thoughtfully as he looked out across the river at a familiar if not tacky dome across the way.]

You want a shot at them beforehand? Practice?

[ She glanced uncomfortably at the dome. ]

Do you think that would help?

You should be prepared. They're able to pull a lot of nasty tricks out there. And you're probably not used to dealing with people who can fly.

They can fly?

[ Oh geez. ]

...Yeah, okay. Let’s go.

[He nodded and began the trek there. A few simulations would get her prepared to fight them in combat, even if it wouldn't necessarily prepare her for it mentally. But it was something to start with.]
