Attention Luceti Residents.

The following names are being called to participate in a strike against the cultist hordes:
[the names listed here appear on the journal.]

All subjects are required to arrive at the tunnels at 8AM on the 27th of March for deployment. All listed individuals are required to be present. Subjects will then be escorted to TERRACE for battle preparation and further details.

Target will be Region One, a former Malnosso stronghold, presently in cultist hands. Subjects are advised to prepare for combat in forested areas. Further information will be made available at TERRACE. Questions and answers will not be provided at this time.

[The Malnosso will not reply to this message, but everyone is free to use this post to discuss among themselves, whether using voice options on the journal or doing action threads.]

Yeah, actually, that's exactly what we can do.

We might be able to keep an eye on him better out there, but you know as well as I do what he's gonna see. What he's gonna have to do if things go sideways. Handling a weapon doesn't mean you're ready to fire it at another living thing.

He's just a kid, Steve. You know what that'll do to him? He stays out of it.

Handling a weapon doesn't mean you need to shoot to kill either. I know exactly what he's going to see. The same exact thing he'd see if he were out on a Draft without any of us to watch his back. At least way we can try to make it as easy for him as possible.

I don't like this anymore than you do but you can't stop him from doing what he decides is best for himself.

No, but you have to accept that there's a chance it'll happen every time you pull the trigger - especially when you've been handling a weapon for, what, weeks maybe? And that's if he can do it at all when the target's not some circles in straw.

In this kinda situation? He doesn't get to decide what's best for himself. He's a kid, a civilian - we're soldiers. He has no idea. You can't encourage him to come with us, Steve. He needs to stay with the healers and help out there, where it's safer.

He's a draftee, just like we are. That may have been the way things worked back home, but things are different here. We all have to learn to protect ourselves because there's no guarantee we're not going to need it.

But I know Henry, and I know how stubborn he is. Bucky, if you tell him what he can't do you're ensuring that he'll do the opposite.

You'd know all about that

[He just sounds resigned.] I still think we should try talking sense into him. He can learn when we get back. He's not ready for this yet.

Be my guest. We still have a couple of days, maybe something will sink in.

If not, I guess I'll have to keep him in my nest - or Barton's. Maybe once he sees what it's like he'll agree to go back.

There's an idea. If he's using a bow, he'll need a place to fire from with a good view.

Yeah. Barton and I have run a few simulations together, I'll pick something with Henry's range in mind. [Bucky sighs.] I really don't like this, Steve.
