[voice]
You guys are heroes.
[voice]
[There's a pause, and a quiet exhale before he speaks up.]
Listen Henry, I know Steve said you could come along with us, but I've gotta tell you - I don't agree with that. You should stay with the healers and help out there. The only way to be safe is to stay far away from the front lines, and even then...
I don't want to scare you, but this is war we're marchin' into, Henry.
[voice]
[People just assume he thinks this is play fighting and that no one is out to kill them. The only thing he is assuming is that their side isn't killing.]
But, what if you need help?
[voice]
Steve and I have been to war together before. We'll take care of each other. This isn't like a story, Henry - even when they win, the good guys don't always make it through.
[voice]; enjoy the irony
And how do you know? Good always manages to get home safe.
[voice] WHERE ARE YOU EVEN GETTING ALL THIS SALT FOR MY WOUNDS
[There's a pause. He doesn't want to be saying any of this, but he has to get through to Henry just how dangerous this is going to be. Upsetting him is still preferable to letting him do something reckless because he didn't know.]
If I leave this place, I don't get to go home. There aren't any grantees where we're goin'.
[voice] FROM THE OCEAN OF YOUR TEARS!
[Because now the draft is no longer Henry's focus. More or less as to what happened to Bucky.]
[voice] HOW... PRACTICAL...
You asked how I know good people don't always make it home? That's how.
[voice] Indeed
Henry can only remain silent at that. Bucky died? He had died back home? But, that couldn't be true. Bucky's a hero. Heroes don't die...
But, then again Graham was a hero and he was killed. He can't respond to that. Instead he just shuts the book. Bucky made his decision easier.
He was going along. To make sure Bucky didn't die again.]
Re: [voice] Indeed
Good job, Buck.
