[Appearing on the journals is a written message as follows. A voice option is provided for a computerized reading of the text.]

Attention Luceti Residents.

The following names are being called to participate in a strike against the cultist hordes:
[the names listed here appear on the journal.]

All subjects are required to arrive at the tunnels at 8AM on the 27th of March for deployment. All listed individuals are required to be present. Subjects will then be escorted to TERRACE for battle preparation and further details.

Target will be Region One, a former Malnosso stronghold, presently in cultist hands. Subjects are advised to prepare for combat in forested areas. Further information will be made available at TERRACE. Questions and answers will not be provided at this time.

[The Malnosso will not reply to this message, but everyone is free to use this post to discuss among themselves, whether using voice options on the journal or doing action threads.]

[She doesn't want to go. She's scared to go. But at the same time...this is exactly the kind of thing she started studying First Aid for, isn't it?]

...No. I think I should just go. I can't really run from it if everyone else is going, right? Besides, maybe I'll be able to help...

[He's not trying to question her or infantilize her, not really. He just has a duty to look after her. And... he's not signed up here. So it's somewhere he can't really follow to watch after her, and it looks like it's somewhere she wouldn't really. Fit. But who knows, she can prove him wrong]

[She nods, trying to think about it in what she thinks is a grown-up way.]

Yeah. I-I mean, even if this is the first time, it probably won't be the last. S-So I might as well go so that maybe I'll be a little more used to it the next time.

[...] Not sure it is something you should get used to. [Muttering that more to himself than anything]

But alright. [And a nod]

[She forces a nervous little smile, trying to pretend like she's really not that scared.]

I...I'll do my best out there! And I'll be just fine! Um, I promise! But, um...while I'm gone...Can you hold on to this for me?

[She pulls a sparkly pink cellphone with an alligator sticker on the back from her pocket and holds it towards him.]

J-Just in case! I don't want anyone like...getting into my apartment and like, messing with it or whatever!

Yo--- you sure? I mean, I'll do it! [With a little gulp, actually, but he gingerly takes her phone and cradles it in his hand. Oh. He nods] I'll be proud to do it!

["Proud to do it." As important as her cellphone is to her, Rin's reaction causes her to giggle, just a bit.]

There's lots of pictures and stuff on it, so I'm counting on you! ...And I really appreciate it. I mean it.

You got it. [And he grins, laughing a moment, until--]

--And I promise not to look at none of the pictures too!

[She hadn't even thought about that possibility until Rin had mentioned it. She straightens up and does her best to put on a stern face.]

Y-You'd better not! Because if you do, I'll know! Uh...But it's not like there's anything weird on there! Really!

I didn't say- There's weird things on there?!

N-No! There's not! I just told you there's not, weren't you listening?! Th-There are absolutely no weird things on that cell phone!

[There certainly aren't photos of her and her friends back home making ducklips and dancing around singing into hairbrushes.]

Okay, okay, so there's no weird things! I heard you! [He says this waving a hand dismissively and his tail curling behind him as he makes to hold the phone tighter-]

[Only to end up staring pointedly at it. He's got to know now]

[She sees that look, Rin, and she's not happy about it. She pouts a little, letting out a childish whine.]

Riiiiiiin! You know, maybe I should ask someone else to look after it!

-No! I got this! [And he snuggles his phone up closer to his chest. To make a point about how he's got this!]

Well...I guess I can trust you. Besides, you're strong enough to protect it if anyone decides to mess with it!

[As if anyone would...]

...And I promise I'll be careful out there.

[He nods fervently in agreement about how he's strong enough to handle it. And if she's going to be careful. He smiles briefly, but then it relents because it hammers in (again) he won't be able to look after her while she's in the draft. And he'll be asking someone else to look after her, but he's not sure if he should tell her that--]

Alright, good. That's what I wanted to hear.

[She tries to put on a brave face and nods firmly.]

Okay! I'd better work on getting ready. I've gotta make sure I have all my first aid stuff and they didn't give us a lot of time to prepare...!

And I'll see you when you get back. [...] Don't worry, I'm going to ask some friends to look out for you.

O-Oh...Really?

[She had been pretty frightened about going it alone, but at the same time, she can't help but at the same time, she can't help but feel a little bad. She knows she's not exactly strong, but she wonders just how weak she appears to others when they're asking people to watch her. She supposes she should be grateful, though.

After all, she's sure she wouldn't be able to handle herself if she really got into trouble.]

Thanks. I'll try not to get into anything I can't handle, though. Like, I don't want to make more trouble than anyone's going to have already.

Nah, I know you're not gonna cause problems if you can't help it. But like... [...] I can't help you out there. So I gotta ask someone to help me out with helping you out.

[That is totally logical]

Y...Yeah, I guess that makes sense...

Like, if you trust them to help me out then, I'm sure I'll be fine! Besides, I'm sure there's a lot of people who will help me. So, um, you definitely shouldn't worry!

[After all, if Precis trusted Rin enough to ask him to look after her, she should trust his judgement, too, right?]
