[At 2:15AM, the journals suddenly blare out an alarm, followed by this message.]

EMERGENCY. EMERGENCY. This is an emergency.

The following occupants of the Luceti enclosure must report to the teleporters in twenty minutes. You are required as reinforcements in Region 13. Bring all necessary armaments with you. You will be teleported directly into combat.

Anyone who fails to comply will be forcibly escorted to the teleporters by droids.

This is not a drill. I repeat: this is not a drill. You have twenty minutes.

[The message repeats twice more, the alarm continuing until the twenty minutes has elapsed. No questions will be answered.]

[Iroh awakens at the sound and sighs when he hears his name. So it was to be a battle was it? If his nephew and others whom he had spoken with weren't on the list, he may have been a bit petulant and awaited the droids. As it stood, there were people there he cared about, and if it was to be a battle, so be it. He dresses himself calmly and carefully, donning the Fire Nation uniform he had found awhile back. It was clearly intended for him, and had his sizing. It would offer some protection.

After tying up his beard, he grabbed his portable teapot as well as some tea, a container filled with water and some suitable food for the road. He'll glance around to make sure Zuko is ready, though he suspected his nephew would have gotten ready faster than him, the benefit of youth.

He'll arrive with time to spare at the teleporters though, and will be, unsurprisingly making some ginseng tea.]

[Zuko will be waiting, with his arms folded, just outside the house. When his uncle finally emerges, he'll look over and approach. He too had sense enough to grab some food at bottled water from the kitchen, all of which was in a bag that was slung over his shoulder with his dao swords.]

[Iroh gives Zuko a nod when he comes out, along with a pat on the shoulder. There was so much he wanted to impart, so many lessons that he wished he had time to teach Zuko. Truly there was hardly anything more terrifying for a parent than heading off to battle. Zuko was well prepared he knew, experience had been a harsh but valuable teacher to him and he had grown strong.

Still, one couldn't help but worry. At least this time, they were going off together]

[There's a small smile at the pat on the shoulder. And while Zuko is confident in himself, he probably won't miss the trace of nervousness in his eyes. He didn't know what to expect, and Aang had already warned him that it would be tough.

While he knows that his uncle is a very powerful firebender, he's as worried for Iroh as he is likely worried about him. But they would get through this, together.]

[As they start heading off to the teleporters, Iroh sings a little song perhaps to lighten the mood, or maybe he is just feeling somewhat nostalgic]

[When Iroh begins to sing, Zuko rolls his eyes. He doesn't say anything though, but neither does he join in.

There was no harm in letting his uncle have a moment before they got thrown into... whatever they were getting thrown into.]

[When he finishes his song, he'll give Zuko a little poke in the shoulder]

I'll have you know that singing songs before you head into battle is important for morale. Never underestimate the value of song to the common man.

[Zuko sighs, he can see where this is going.]

I'm not going to sing.

I never said you had to.

[Just implied]

It is something to note. Things that may seem silly can be very important and key to people in stressful situations.

I understand, uncle. ... But I'm still not singing.

[Because ugh singing.]

Sing while you can, too often there is nothing to sing about.

[Just going to add a proverb in there. He might be teasing you at this point]

[lordhotman]

[Yeah he's definitely teasing him now. Zuko says nothing and just crosses his arms and sulks.]

[He gives him a big pat on the back]

I'm sure the singing bug will eventually bite.

[Zuko scowls a bit and looks over at his uncle.]

How can you be so happy about all of this? We're going to fight a war. A war we're not even supposed to be involved in. For people who captured and tortured both of us!

[Iroh gives Zuko a bit of a look]

The Malnosso are a foul group certainly, and by my account have committed many heinous acts. Yet, life still goes on. There is still hope, and happiness in the world. It is something worth reinforcing before you go into battle, because when you come out, you may find it all the harder to get it back.

[Zuko looks away and sighs.]

I guess I'll just have to take a bite out of the silver sandwich.

[Iroh pauses and blinks at that]

What are you talking about?

[... Did he say that out loud?]

Nothing, don't worry about it.

A silver sandwich? What does that even mean?

You know, if you are going to lie to me, you should probably not make it about food.
