[At 2:15AM, the journals suddenly blare out an alarm, followed by this message.]

EMERGENCY. EMERGENCY. This is an emergency.

The following occupants of the Luceti enclosure must report to the teleporters in twenty minutes. You are required as reinforcements in Region 13. Bring all necessary armaments with you. You will be teleported directly into combat.

Anyone who fails to comply will be forcibly escorted to the teleporters by droids.

This is not a drill. I repeat: this is not a drill. You have twenty minutes.

[The message repeats twice more, the alarm continuing until the twenty minutes has elapsed. No questions will be answered.]

[The hug is a little bit of a surprise, but not an unwelcome one. She leans into it, pulling him close and holding him tight. Her eyes close, and she revels in the affection offered not only by the boy but by Pikachu. She nuzzles her cheek against the little creature, sharing a small bit of electricity with him like when they'd first met.]

I won't, Red. I'll fight until I can make it back here. I'll lay waste to the enemy, and return as quickly as I am able.

[She breaks the hug slowly, taking a step back and reclaiming her bow. It's time to go, it seems.]

I promise you that. I'll come back as soon as I can. Don't worry too much. I've got Vegeta with me, and Beardy. This will all be over soon.

No, it's not.

[He hesitates for a moment, ponders telling her the truth, but then figures she'd be angrier with him if he didn't.]

The last time it was like this, things were bad. I suspect this will be the same.

[Vaskoth had been ugly even for him.]

[Yes, Elizabeth figured it was bad. The intensity of the alarm, the short notice, the ungodly hour... She swallows and squeezes the back of Gai's coat gently.]

Well, we'll be okay. [She pulls back and tries to smile up at him.] We'll stick together, and get through this one too.

We'll all stick together.

[Because he'd seen Booker's name, and Robert's and Rosalind's too. They should be fine as long as they stayed in a group; the Cultists he'd dealt with before hadn't been nearly as intelligent as most of the enemies he'd faced back at home.

With one hand he reaches around to grab one of hers, lifting it up to rest it over his chest where his heart is.]

Good thing I don't need to worry about bringing ammunition with me.

[Elizabeth blinks at the sight of her hands over Gai's heart. She was afraid, yes, but she couldn't show that to Gai. Besides... he knew. If Gai hadn't picked up on it from how Elizabeth had squeezed him, he certainly knew by how she was staring at his chest.]

Maybe not. [She smiles up at him.] But if you need anything, I might be able to help.

I'll be counting on you to keep me in one piece.

[Mostly. She doesn't know that he's made a pact with Nala yet, and he'd prefer to keep it that way unless absolutely necessary, because he'd rather not admit that he finally gave in and decided to learn Filial magic.

So he just smiles back at her and squeezes her hand instead.]

[The gesture makes him jump a little- his nerves are on the rise. But it's just Crys.

Crys...

...He won't lie to her.] I might get hurt, but I'll come back in one piece. [He won't die, no matter what. That's the most he can promise.]

[She nods, smiling softly.] Me too.

[Elizabeth looks back at the teleporters, then back at Gai.] Once we go through there, you're going to be focused on the battle. You're going to be like you were on the mission, right?

[She's not saying this is a bad thing, it's just a fact. And fortunately she's perceptive enough to know when she can expect a repeat performance.]

[The smile on his face fades, replaced by something tinged with regret and sorrow. She knows. She's seen him with his leader face on, as much as he'd prefer that he kept that side of him away from her.]

That's right. I have to be a soldier while I'm out there, for your sake and for the sake of everyone else on this draft.

[It's not the nicest side of him, but at least she knows what to expect by now.]

I know, you don't have to explain it to me, I know. [She smiles, trying to coax him back to smiling too. She steps closer to Gai and stretches up.]

One for the road, then?

[It's hard not to smile with her smiling at him like that and moving closer for a kiss... so he does.]

Yeah.

[He leans down to press a kiss to her lips, lingering there for a long moment before pulling back just enough to murmur:]

And one for good luck.

[Before he dives right back in again.]

I'm sure all of you will.

[Including the Uchiha brothers. In his eyes, they're still part of Konoha. Pausing for a while, Minato rummages in his back pocket and then hands Lee a travel-sized kit.]

Here, I want you to have this. They are spare bandages and medicines I have. If you or any of your comrades get injured, these will come in handy. I would have prepared more but twenty minutes won't be enough.

[He pauses again to bring out another item from one of his pockets and hands it to Lee as well.]

Also, this. It's my special kunai with my seal. I know I'm not on the list but just to be safe. If ever there is a need to go as reinforcements, I would know where to find you. This is also the reason why I want you all to stick together.

[One would have been enough to keep Elizabeth satisfied for the whole draft, but two is wonderful. She almost reaches into his hair, but that'll have them kissing until the droids forcibly separate them. ...not to mention she had no idea if Booker's eyes were on her back or not.]

[She pulls back, needing to take a breath to steady herself.] Alright then, soldier, should we go?

[Oh, Anise. If she only knew... well, they don't exactly have enough time for Ion to get too into it. But he rarely, if ever, talked about the drafts before. So now was as good as time as any to mention it.]

...I know. And I know they wouldn't, but...

[...]

But then who's going to protect all of you?

[Booker could stare as much as he wanted. What was most important was reassuring Elizabeth, and if the other man knew her even half as well as Gai suspected he did, then he would understand that this particular action was necessary.

In other words, he doesn't really care.]

I'm ready if you are.

[Pilouette takes a moment to think. She tilts her head to the side a little, as if doing so will shake the memories loose.] I...I think this happened once before, uh, maybe a year or so ago? But I wasn't on that draft, so I don't really know much about what happened there. ...To be honest, I've only been on one draft before this one.

I don't think I am, but I don't have much choice do I? [She smirks wryly at the teleporters.] But the sooner we start, the sooner we can come home.

Let's hope this one doesn't last as long as the last one.

[And doesn't involve zombies, either. Once was more than enough for him.]

Maybe we'll even luck out and get working showers.

Ooh, what luxury. I'm not going to hold my breath, if it's all the same to you.

[He smirks.]

Neither am I, but it can't hurt to dream.

Dream away, I won't stop you. You look very handsome when you do it.

[They really should move to the teleporters but... the sooner they go, the sooner Elizabeth has to stop flirting.]

[Likewise, Tear hadn't seen the need to check up on Jade when she knew she could trust him to be prepared and help the others in the short time they had. Though she wouldn't deny that there was a sense of relief knowing he would also be there, and seeing him pass as she checked her small supply of gels again brought more calm to the already urgent atmosphere.

She answers his greeting with a curt nod and soft 'Colonel,' but after another moment's pause—] Should I distribute these now, or trust the others will manage without them from the start?

Ah... [His eyes widen as he takes the kit followed by the kunai, examining it quickly and looking between it and Minato.]

Yondaime-sama! Thank you very much! I... I will make the most of all of these gifts. I won't let you down!

Now you got your chance. [Shrug.] This is my first rodeo so I can't say what to expect from them.

[Don't mind him but he's going to tap that armor with his knuckles. Seems sturdy.]
